CHEMICAL PEELS
Facial Chemical Peels will help to maintain a firm skin tone by promoting elastin and collagen fiber formation, the supporting structure of your skin. It can help to reduce dark spots, scarring, and fine lines. Peels can brighten up an uneven complexion as well as fade skin discoloration caused by previous sun damage and hormone effect.
At Sica Family Dermatology we offer a number of Chemical Peels that can help to maintain a healthy skin appearance. Please keep in mind that facial Chemical Peels are designed to be a progressive event and that multiple applications are needed over a few weeks to months to have desired effects
Lactic Acid Peels – This is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) derived from milk products. It also can be found in the skin naturally. This peel is not as irritating as Salicylic, Glycolic or TCA peels. This is a good peel to start with, and can be repeated every few weeks, increasing in strength.
Glycolic Acid Peels – This is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA). This Peel is popular because it produces little skin shedding and very little downtime to the patient. The patient will work up to higher percentages of the acid over a few month period of time.
Salicylic Acid Peels – This is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA). This type of peel is popular for the patient who wants to see the skin shed. It will start working in less than 10 minutes after it is applied. The patient will gradually work up to increasing percentages of the acid over a few months period of time.
Trichloroacetic Acid Peels (TCA) – This Peel will cause much more visible skin shedding then the AHA and BHA peels and there can be some down-time for the patient if higher percentage acids are used.
Tri-Luma Cream - Tri-Luma® is the only FDA-approved melasma treatment with 3 active ingredients, uniquely combined and more effective than treatments containing only two of the ingredients.
